Nipissing Lakers Adult Ski Program:
Details

This winter the program will be offered in two parts. Five Sunday sessions will focus on classic skiing technique and the five Tuesday session in skate skiing technique. This allows participants the flexibility to select five classic lessons or five skate lessons. Alternatively people can signup for both the classic and the skate sessions.

You don't skate ski or don't classic ski? While Tuesday is directed towards a skate skiing group focus and Sunday is classic skiing focused, sessions can be kept to the technique which participants want to work on or only have equipment for; the coaches will support both techniques

Participants select from these options:

  • Five Sunday, Classic skiing sessions, 11:00am to 12:30pm, $100          (Jan. 14, Feb. 4, 11, 18, Mar. 3)

  • Five Tuesday, Skate skiing sessions, 6:30 to 8:00 pm, $100                    (Jan. 9, 23 and 30, Feb. 13 and 27.)

  • Five Sunday (11:00am to 12:30pm) and five Tuesday (6:30 to 8:00 pm), $200

  • To ensure quality coaching, there will be a limited number of people per session. Participants will be grouped by ability and fitness level for lessons.

  • All participants are required to purchase North Bay Nordic Ski Club trail passes. The club offers day passes and season passes. Details here: http://www.northbaynordic.ca/

About the Nipissing Lakers Varsity Ski Team

“The Nipissing Lakers Nordic Ski Team consists of about 20 hard working student-athletes from across Canada including B.C and Newfoundland. We also attract international students including a German athlete. Because of our small class sizes, on campus ski trails, integrated support team, and caring coaches, students look to Nipissing University as a place to pursue both scholarly and athletic goals. Many of our student-athletes take majors in Math, Biology, Nursing, Physical and Health Education, Business, Philosophy, and Education.

The Lakers will begin their season in early December in Gatineau competing at Nakkertok. January will see some of the team compete at the Canadian Trails races at Mount St. Anne. Then there is plenty of racing within Ontario in January and February including the Ontario University Championships in Thunder Bay at the end of February. The team looks forward to returning to Nakkertok Ski Club to compete for medals at the Canadian Colleges and University and Club National Championships in March”.
